Too Many Goodies from Dennis

Bloggers are a different breed. Seems lately I have my Tweeps I trade with on Twitter that are okay, my favorite Trading Card Database swappers I exchange cards and pleasantries with, and then there are the handful of Bloggers I call my friends. Bloggers share that passionate generosity where we feel  thrilling excitement for other people's reactions of what we send to them almost more than when we open cards for ourselves. Dennis from Too Many Verlanders is my closest blogger friend and the most generous person I swap cards with. This dude is always looking out for me in every box of cards he peeks through. He gets me JaCoby Jones and Nolan cards often. Very often. But, even more incredible is the deep cuts he hits into my PC. I can barely remember who I collect. I swear Dennis knows what I collect better than me. Check out this package I got from him pre-Xmas that my lazy ass is just now getting into posting.

JJ and Nolan Scribbles.

Might have to ask Gibby to start taking my pics for me, jeesh.

How would he even think of me for that Salty? I love it!

Vizquel Blue Jays....mind blown.

Hockey too!

God, these pics are terrible. That Tony Phillips is a work of art.

He even dipped into some hoops for me!
I couldn't even list and show all the cards he gave me. Last week I forced him to drive to me to meet up with Chuck (C2Cigars) from Trading Card Database. It was a good time but the show was crazy busy for the first time ever. Its always fun to catch up with people in person that you've only interacted with online. Chuck was great and even gave us some cards. I was at least able to give Dennis my less than stellar box of cards I am always building for him. Not being a college sports guy at all, I really owe him something big for his PC very soon. Dennis is the man. I would recommend becoming his friend. He sent out like two dozen packages just like this right before Christmas. Like a Blogger Santa. Santa Blogs? I donno. Thank you Dennis!

Sealed for Freshness and Made with Love from Dennis!

My best bloggin' buddy Dennis  hooked me up "freaky fast" with a sammich bag full of goodness. Thus proving you can ship safely in a ziploc. He tends to drop pounds (of cards) like Jared from Subway in my mail box and in person very often.  Somehow we are both in some kind of USPS super-speed vortex sweet spot that allows us to get packages to each other faster than a Gargantuan from a 16 year old Jimmy John's driver in his mom's 1988 Trans Am. We literally received each other's packages less than 24 hours after sending them. I don't think I will ever break even with the stuff that Dennis finds for me.

Dennis loved the loose Miggy RC in a baggy via ebay I got a few days ago so much he has incorporated the shipping technique into his own trades.

I've been watching this one card jump between $25-35 on ebay for over a year. Now I have one!

That pinstripe is sick! Young Arenado sporting his guns.

My first Reimold AUTO for my "Nolan" collection!

I have always loved these donruss relics. Andy Dirks is a personal favorite and I have been waiting to pick up enough Panini Points to snag this card. Now, I can get the Austin Jackson on instead.

Oooh, Acetate cards are my jam!

Prince's swing arm > Encarnacion's Parrot arm home run trot.

Golden express!

This pin is amazing. I have never seen one before and I always look at the random boxes and in the nooks and crannies of junk tables.

Now that is a sketch card!

/1500 no less!

Every Nolan Ryan collector has these cards banging around in boxes. I rarely see them in the original box and now can be certain I am not missing any.

How Silly Our Hobby Is

This is that card got above (this one is /99, but big whoop) that I have been watching forever and the seller will not mark it down. Don't have to watch it get relisted anymore!

One single blaster. A break spot in one single blaster. $20. That IS the price of the blaster. I hope nobody was silly enough to get into this.

Silly is probably not a strong enough word for a $1K pack of cards.

I feel like the Tigers have been doing this with Miggy for a long time. They ask $350+ for his signature ttm and way more on actual decent items.

Like a Cracked Bat Over the Head: Buried in Want List Cardboard

Please forgive me Julie for taking so long with this post, 'tis Tee-ball season.

A Cracked Bat

Julie runs the blog: A Cracked Bat: Baseball Cards and a Hot Dog. She chases the old English D along with John, Dennis and me. Recently, she gave me a heads up that a "small" box was headed my way. Her idea of a "small" box was a huge chunk of my wantlist from TCDB which we are both members of. I took some pictures but there was way too much goodness in this box for the few pics I took to do it any justice. This box had everything!

I have had the backer that these pins go on since 2007 and I think I have a Brandon Inge and Jim Leyland pin floating around here somewhere. These three are a wonderful addition and motivation to get this pin collection completed.

Stick 'Ums and ProVisions. Be still my heart.

Sweet Nolan Ryan from the year before I was born.

Some thick cardstock of a couple former Tiger aces.

This is just some of the Ty Cobbs in the box. I needed the Masterpieces for the set I am working on.

The Cecil Fielder gold signature is one of my favorite cards now.

Two things I love; unscratched game cards and Jim Thome!

I saw Edmonds was going to be at the National but thought $60 was a little steep for me to give up box digging time for him. Especially when I can probably buy an Edmonds auto for less. BUT, then I saw the 1990 All Star card. I need some ink on that thing! And yes, that is a relic card.

Vintage Tigers!

Relics and Ink! I've needed a Tanana auto for a long time.
Omar Vizquel relic with the Indians. Amazing card!
Thank you so much for thinking of me and dropping these awesome cards on my Julie! Make sure everybody checks out her blog, tracks her down on Twitter, and friends her on Trading Card Database. You just might find yourself buried in wantlist cardboard.

High Quality TCDB Trade!

Check out this 7 card trade package I received in a recent Trading Card Database trade:

I apparently have an affinity towards highly skilled 3rd basemen i.e. Arenado, Chapman, B. Anderson...

I am usually not a fan of manufactured relics but this card is awesome in person.

Here are some other recent pickups:

Finally found Walgreens cards. (Now that nobody wants them). The two cards above made their way into my PC and I have  a stuck loaded onto TCDB for trade. 4 hanger boxes opened and not one yellow RC.

The Paredes is from a TCDB trader who originally sent me a PWE that showed up owing $3.11. It made up for it!

I pulled the weirdest messed up Stadium Club card the other day. For ripples across the front. Never seen that before. #ebay1/1

Picked up some basketball on a whim looking for Pistons or Doncic cards. Got one.

Also pulled the lowest numbered card of the year so far for me. /10!

TTM Return!

This year has been one of the worst for TTM returns. It seems MLB players have given up on it. Matt Davidson did hook me up though. I saw this sweet looking card and thought it could use a scribble.

Topps Home Run Challenge

It looks like the Home Run Challenge winners for April are about to roll out. Notice however, my May winner Ohtani says April...hmmm; he didn't play in April. We shall see what shows up.
