Fantasy Baseball; First Loser! Also, a Shout Out to The Lost Collector

I HATE LOSING. Its ingrained deep within me for whatever reason. It may be an oldest child thing, I don't know. I took second place in fantasy baseball this year and it sucks. I busted my butt making sure I had the best lineup each week but in the final matchup my own Tigers lost it for me. Matt Boyd threw a 2 inning outing and Michael Fulmer is a delicate flower. I guess thats what I get for being a homer and picking up Detroit guys. In my defense; Boyd was good all year but just shit the bed when I needed him most. I lost by ONE category! Matt Boyd is dead to me now. I really enjoyed having this league to work on. I wish it would have been a bit more interactive. I was able to make zero trades even though I offered like 30 throughout the year. There was zero chatter on the league forum. I think more than half of the people signed up ghosted the damn thing after the first month. Typical for fantasy baseball. I hate to say it but I think there is probably a correlation between being able to finish a fantasy baseball season actively and being able to sit and watch a baseball game. Damn millennials and their need for instant gratification and entertainment. Anyway, congratulations to The Bonds Squad whoever you are. It was an amazing championship that came down to the last inning on the last day. A huge thank you and shout out to Jake (I think, I only know the accounts from the league, Twitter @sportcardscollec,  and the blog) from Sports Card Collectors for setting up the league! I am not up on things, it may be a collectively owned blog but always good stuff and peeks at new products.

I had some pretty great trades via Twitter recently. I mistakenly got anxious and worked it all into my collection before taking scans or posting individual contributions. So, sorry to AJ The Lost Collector  or @Lost_Collector. He hooked me up with some sweet Tigers cards. Here are some of the examples that stayed close enough to the surface to grab and snap:

The Trammell was a bonus card AJ threw in. It ended up being my favorite of the whole lot!

Ultra-Mega-Monster Post, Card Show, GIVEAWAY CONTEST PRIZE UPDATE, POST #95

Tigers Get New Leadership

I am very excited to have Ron Gardenhire at the helm for the Tig's. I always liked the guy when he was in Minnesota. I took my approval so far as to dress up as him for a Halloween Event we took my son to at the Detroit Zoo.

Creepy pic but you get the idea. It was too dark out for any kind of decent evidence of the whole package. I think it worked.

Bucket List Items Crossed Off the List

I recently purchased two items for my collection that I have been dreaming about for a long time. First, is a signed Cecil Fielder lithograph I have looked at for almost a year. It sat on tables and sometimes in a bin and always called to me. But, the $35 price tag on it always scared me off. That is a large chunk of change for a guy who spends his whole wad at the dimeboxes. I ended up offering the seller something cheaper and he took it. Very quickly which made me wonder what I really could have gotten it for but oh well. Its mine now! I love it and can't wait to get it framed.
Its just a little under poster sized, I'm too lazy to measure it now. The scrapes and toning issues are on the gigantic top loader its in. It is in really amazing shape inside and will look good when I give it the attention it deserves.

Next is a card. Not just any card, though. A card off my want list that I have wanted since the WBC. Ian Kinsler was terrific in that tournament and I really wanted something good to remember it by. Here is my sweet little piece of history.

New, Cheap FeeBay Finds

The Delvecchio is for an upcoming signing. Here are two reasons other than fees that Ebay sucks: 1. More than just the Cecil Fielder card came with tape on the top loader. Come on people, quit ruining cards. 2. One of the cards that was "free shipping" shorted the stamps so I had to pay .21 upon arrival. How lame are these sellers?!

A Card Show Comes to Me!

One localish card show has called it quits but has been replaced with another at a new venue just about walking distance from my house! How amazing is that? I may stop going to the Taylor, MI show all together now that this one is here and 5 minutes away with most of the same vendors and some great new ones. I went to the show for 2 hours on Saturday by myself and 3 hours on Sunday with my brother. The dimeboxes took a beating those days. Here's a little bit of the loot:

Finally, Finally, Finally finished the set! But now this is the only one not signed by a pro fisherman.

Found a new set of fishing inserts. Love that Burbot...Cusk for all you New Englanders.

Pedro ToppsGold for the W.S. bound Dodgers? Yes please.

Lots of Rocket. The eye black card is one of my favorites, I buy it every time for whatever reason I guess I need 100 of them.

Couple of youngsters who became studs.

Former Tiger masher.

I love the looks of these no matter who graces them.

Finally some dimeboxes with cards older than 2010.

Wily Mo! Not looking like his giant baseball tearing self yet. Notice his name is spelled "WILLI" by Bowman and signed very different.

The always amazing but never scannable Metal cards. Two wonderful Tony Clarks.

These cards are so cool. The pictures seem to be actual stamps placed on the card. I have to research these bad boys.

Found a decent amount of Rick Ankiel I didn't have.

Pat Burrell RC's, Score!

And a die cut and minor league card.

The best SS ever.

Very cool Richie Sexson cards.

Prince.

Nolan's.

I buy any and all Canseco's. Someday I will get them together and see what I have but for now I just buy them recklessly.

I have a Flair for Big Daddy cards.

Cecil Fielder cards for 10 cents are uncommon in my neck of the woods.

All 11 cards for this Fielder insert set in a case sitting in a dimebox. Damn I'm lucky sometimes.

Some RC's. Never heard of the Bowman card player but I have been impressed with Didi lately.

Some old, some new.

Some classic Cubbies.

I should just commit to putting together an electric diamond set or quit buying them.

I bought 5 of each of these Severino cards. I was so frickin' impressed with him in the playoffs. The dude is going places if he stays healthy.

Some kids and their comic cards.

What is the deal with the Dennis Martinez card?

Whit Merrifield pretty much saved my fantasy team this year.

Gold Rush AVS. Cha!

I only wish my oversized Brady Anderson card had his later career sideburns.

Albert Belle only looking kind of scary.

Tiggers

Nice technology Robbie

Kenny Lofton showing off his jersey collection.

Two of the greatest athletes of all time.

I even picked up some football. I have never seen a running back as good as Bell was last game.

Pharmacy, Dog Food, Cereal. Nowadays I have a harder time finding a way to buy cards when I am out grocery shopping.

Some classic hockey.

Some football stragglers.

Fantasy Baseball Results

I had to settle for second place. Which is fine because just like every other time I have played fantasy baseball everybody loses a couple weeks early on and quits. So lame. Someday I'll find a keeper league or something that matters.

Upcoming Signings

I figured I would post these in case anybody needs the info or wants something signed.
